What are keyed locks?
Locks utilising sets of keys (keyed locks) are a more conventional method of security, but still effective with the right features and functions. These locks are beneficial for both residential homes and business locations and provide a practical and easy security solution.
Also known as entrance locks, these entry sets can be opened on the outside by turning the knob. The key or turnsnib lock unlocks the inside and the outside lock. Like the deadbolt locks, these keyed locks can come in a few different types.
What are the different types of keyed locks available?
Single Cylinder: The simplest of the keyed locks, single cylinder lock sets are compatible to most restricted key systems and are ideal for residential home security. The lock comes with two sets of keys, a saw resistant bolt and a heavy duty single cylinder.
Double Cylinder: Ideal for commercial properties and businesses (or residential homes with extra security needed), the double cylinder has a double cylinder deadbolt. Some varieties will come with a 6 pin cylinder assembly for an added level of security and all types of double cylinder keyed locks are compatible with most restricted key systems.
Mechanical Locksets: Mechanical keyed locks set the bar for the ultimate level of home and business safety and security. Their benefits are endless including different modes which change the way the lock can be utilised. Secure mode locks the handles from the inside and outside and ensure the lock cannot be opened from the inside without a key. Safety mode prevents unauthorised access to the room or building, whilst making it easy to exit and passage mode frees the handles from the inside and outside without the need for key (suitable for individual rooms in a residential home).
